100TH CITIZENSHIP CEREMONY

On Friday, 23rd January 2015, the 100th Citizenship Ceremony took place in the Convention Centre in Dublin. Over 2,000 individuals attended the event, with 109 nationalities being represented. The Minister for Justice and Equality, Frances Fitzgerald, attended the event and noted that “the ceremonies represent a major positive force in our national immigrant integration efforts” – Minister’s Press Release.

The first Irish Citizenship Ceremony took place in June 2011, with 73 candidates attending. Since then, more than 59,000 people have attended ceremonies around the country.

Applications for citizenship reached records highs in 2014, according to new figures released by the Department of Justice and Equality.

Brophy Solicitors would like to congratulate all the individuals, and in particular our clients, who became Irish citizens on 23rd January.
