The Supreme Court has set aside four days to hear submissions in relation to the challenge to the Children’s Referendum, brought by our client Ms Joanna Jordan. The hearing will commence this Monday, 1st December. The challenge was brought in 2012 by way of two sets of High Court proceedings, by petition and by plenary proceedings. The cases were heard separately in the High Court both by Mr Justice McDermott and both cases were ultimately unsuccessful. The plaintiff appealed both decisions of the High Court and the Supreme Court will now hear both matters as joint appeals next week. The judgment is not expected to be handed down until early in the new year.
